BHP HARWOOD Architects was formed in 1993 by the merger of Harwood Group Practice and BHP Architects. Established in 1971 and 1955 respectively, these practices were associated for four years prior to merger. Our office locations in Wantage and Corsham allow us to cover work over a large area of the country.
We pride ourselves on adopting a unique and special approach to each commission awarded to us. We have great experience in designing schemes in sensitive locations, often requiring our particular skills in dealing with Listed Buildings or buildings within a Conservation Area.
Our commercial experience and design skills have been utilised in the development of sites with a variety of locations and uses. Imaginative and efficient designs can achieve commercial advantage for our clients and give them maximum return on their investments.
We have been involved with several major town centre schemes, encompassing a mixture of retail, commercial, and residential uses. The practice has won Civic Trust Awards for housing in conservation areas, work to historic buildings and new-build developments. The partners of BHP HARWOOD play an active part in the local architectural community, including involvement in the Local Authority Architect Panels for the Vale of White Horse and West Berkshire District Councils.
We have resources to deal with projects of all sizes and complexities with a permanent staff of Architects and Technicians and every project is under the direct personal supervision of a Partner. We have developed a wide range of presentation techniques in house which have proved invaluable in ensuring successful delivery of planning permissions.
