This scheme proposes a development of 229 dwellings, including 30 units within the conversion of St Gabriel’s House and the retained St Mary’s Listed buildings, in a mix of house types and apartments.
The proposed density of the scheme graduates from the highest density at the north adjacent to the town centre to the lower density at the south adjacent to the open areas of the school and cemetery.

Brief: The redevelopment of a former girls private school to include the retention and conversion of existing historic and Listed buildings on the site, the demolition of a variety of purpose-built school buildings and the construction of a mixture of houses and apartment dwellings.




The designs of the new buildings draw on the forms, elements, details and materials that are characteristic of Wantage. The use and recognition of these characteristics will help to identify the new development as an integral part of the Wantage townscape,
and ensure that it sits comfortably with the existing buildings to be retained.
