The proposed development of 41 dwellings has a mixture of house types and apartments that are mainly 2 & 2.5 storey with a few 3 storey houses to give a variety of mass and form.
The buildings nearest to the Goddard Arms Hotel are 2 storey with rooms in the roofspace, so as not to compete with the scale of the existing Listed Buildings.
The buildings to the Southern boundary form a continuous terrace, with vehicular archways which punctuate the façade and lead through to private parking courts.

The scheme aims to integrate into the existing surrounding character in terms of
its overall scale. The layout consists of a number of courtyard spaces, which are accessed from the street. An overall sense of place is achieved through the creation of
a well-defined structure that has the potential to create a strong sense of identity and a distinctive character.
Materials and forms are directly influenced by the character of Old Town, but there has been no attempt to produce a facsimile of Old Town. The design philosophy is to create an environment, which has its own identity but which contains familiar elements, forms, details, textures, colours and tones.
The proposed scheme incorporates slates, plain tiles, brick and render, chimneys, bay windows and porches.
